Prime Video expands its horizon as the platform now enters into live sports streaming. Amazon Prime, on Tuesday, made it public that they have joined hands with New Zealand Cricket. The streaming giant has purchased exclusive rights to live stream NZC matches in India for the next six years.
With this announcement, Amazon Prime becomes the first Indian streaming platform to secure exclusive live cricket rights from a major cricketing board. As per the deal, Amazon can stream all the New Zealand-based BLACKCAPS and WHITE FERNS matches into India across different cricket match formats such as ODI, T20 and Tests until 2025-26.
The multi-year deal between Amazon and the NZC includes Team India’s tour of New Zealand in early 2022, and a second tour, the dates for which will be announced later. The rights for the 2020-2021 season starting later this month is intended to be syndicated by Amazon.
Similar to other shows, Amazon Prime members in India will be able to watch live sports streaming from anywhere. Not just that, it is at any time using the Prime Video app.
