Big B reveals he escaped real bullet fired by Dharmendra during Sholay shoot on KBC 12.
The December 24 episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati 12 began with roll-over contestant Preet Mohan Singh. She was on the hot seat opposite host Amitabh Bachchan. He had won the fastest-finger-first round in the previous episode.
The contestant’s wife Satvinder Kaur revealed at the beginning of the show that Preet is a big fan of Amitabh and his film Sholay. She further shared that her husband always watches Sholay whenever it airs on television. And he never lets anyone change the channel.
Amitabh Bachchan then shared a memory from the sets of his 1975 film, Sholay. The film proved to be the biggest blockbuster of its time and is still revered, 45 years later. But did you know that Dharmendra got irritated during a sequence shoot of the film and ended up shooting a real gun? Well, Big B narrated the incident.
Dharmendra was agitated because there were too many retakes in a scene. He had to pick cartridges from a box and fill both of his pockets. The actor did the scene two-three times but couldn’t get it right.

Irritated with it, by mistake, he shot a real bullet, which went past Big B’s ear. During the scene, Amitabh Bachchan was standing on top of a mountain. He shared that the cartridges were real. Near escape!
Preet Mohan Singh revealed that he was around 10-years-old when the film released. He got so scared after watching it because of Gabbar Singh’s character. He further revealed that as a kid, he used to always feel that Dharmendra’s character could’ve picked up enough cartridges during the climax and saved Amitabh Bachchan’s life. Big B had a hearty laugh over this story.
