Kalanjoor: Kerala Town Kalanjoor in Konni constituency witnessed heavy rain and wildfire on Wednesday 12 th May 2021. Clouldburst disrupts life in this Kerala Town terrifically.
Life at Konni and surrounding areas came to standstill followed by sudden heavy rain, thunder, flood, heavy wind and wild fire simultaneously.
Trees were uprooted and fell across local roads and highways making vehicle and pedestrian movement impossible. Although it was a lockdown day due to severe covid cases in Kerala, this came as an extra burden for civic authorities.
Power disruption was the reason for Electricity offices filled with direct enquiries and phone calls on mobile numbers available. All amenities including water and telephone and internet services are having severe problems as a result of it.
Heavy thunder strike became the reason for wild fire at multiple places due to blasting of transformers and electric lines. The video recording attached is from an Electricity Office at Kalanjoor – Konni by one of its staff.
Reports from many north Indian cities are also confirming cloudburst related causalities are sizeable at many parts over there.
Authorities are trying hard to bring life back to normal.
