Dubai is preparing to launch driverless vehicles – especially taxis. This is a part of replacing the current fleet with futuristic modes of transportation. The final test of the self-controlling vehicles took place at the Silicon Oasis in Dubai.
There are five companies that are participating in the final experiments. The name of a winner will announce in October. Driverless vehicles were introduced as part of the ‘Self Driving Transport’ challenge. These are not only road vehicles but drones also.
These driverless vehicles will be used delivering goods as well as dropping passengers. The Road Transport Authority had tested speed control, interaction with people, ease of use, product safety, and comprehension skills. The participating companies in the final test are from China, Austria, Taiwan, Russia, and the US.
There is a local category segment also. In that category, the participants were:
New York University in Abu Dhabi, Khalifa University, Dubai Rochester University, American University in Sharjah, Sharjah University, and Dubai University.
Dubai is aiming for 25% of its traffic to be self-driving by the year 2030.

അന്തിമ പരീക്ഷണങ്ങളിൽ പങ്കെടുക്കുന്ന അഞ്ച് കമ്പനികളുണ്ട്. വിജയിക്കുന്ന കമ്പനിയുടെ പേര് ഒക്ടോബറിൽ പ്രഖ്യാപിക്കും. ‘സെൽഫ് ഡ്രൈവിംഗ് ട്രാൻസ്പോർട്ട്’ ചലഞ്ചിന്റെ ഭാഗമായാണ് ഡ്രൈവറില്ലാ വാഹനങ്ങൾ അവതരിപ്പിച്ചത്. ഇവയിൽ റോഡ് വാഹനങ്ങൾ മാത്രമല്ല, ഡ്രോണുകളും ഉൾപ്പെടുന്നു.
ഈ ഡ്രൈവറില്ലാത്ത വാഹനങ്ങൾ സാധനങ്ങൾ എത്തിക്കുന്നതിനും ഒപ്പം യാത്രക്കാരെ ഇറക്കുന്നതിനും ഉപയോഗിക്കും. റോഡ് ട്രാൻസ്പോർട്ട് അതോറിറ്റി ഇവയുടെ വേഗനിയന്ത്രണം, ആളുകളുമായുള്ള ഇടപെടൽ, ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്നതിലെ സൗകര്യം, ഉൽപ്പന്ന സുരക്ഷ, ഗ്രാഹ്യ ശക്തി എന്നിവ പരീക്ഷിച്ചു. ചൈന, ഓസ്ട്രിയ, തായ്‌വാൻ, റഷ്യ, യുഎസ് എന്നിവിടങ്ങളിൽ നിന്നുള്ളവരാണ് അവസാന ടെസ്റ്റിൽ പങ്കെടുക്കുന്ന കമ്പനികൾ.
ഒരു പ്രാദേശിക മത്സര വിഭാഗവും ഉണ്ട്. ആ വിഭാഗത്തിൽ, പങ്കെടുക്കുന്നവർ:

2030 ആകുമ്പോഴേക്കും 25% ട്രാഫിക് സ്വയം നിയന്ത്രിക്കുന്നവ ആക്കുവാനാണ് ദുബായ് ലക്ഷ്യമിടുന്നത്.
