Under the evaluation of Pakistan being friendly to terrorist activities, England took the decision to put Pakistan on the list of very high-risk countries.  Britain had recently amended law on 26 March 2021 to curb money laundering and control terrorism. The new move comes under that amendment.

Britain had made the amendment to their Money Laundering, funding to criminal activities and terrorism, Transfer of funds act of 2017.  Under this, Schedule 3ZA comprises list and details of high risk countries that counts to 21.  Pakistan is the 3rd highest risky countries in that list.  In the list, North Korea, Syria, Zimbabwe and Yemen are also there.

In the statement, Britain says ‘Pakistan is being placed as third highest risky countries in the world’ as per the latest evaluation of contents of above act.

Meantime, Pakistan had responded that the action by Britain was not based on real fact check.  Pakistan prime minister Imran Khan put an official objection to the move against his country.  Also he mentioned that they will continue to make Britain understand about the reality that is otherwise.  Imran Khan requested Britain to review the decision and assured willingness to have more dialogues on the issue.

In the list of 3ZA schedule of Britain, other countries included are Albania, Barbados, Botswana, Burkina Faso, Cambodia, Cayman Islands, Ghana, Iran, Jamaica, Mauritius, Morocco, Myanmar, Nicaragua, Panama, Senegal, and Uganda.
