In a world where anyone can buy a 1000-horsepower Hellephant crate engine from Dodge. we knew Ford wasn’t going to just stop at 430 horsepower with its massive 7.3-liter Godzilla V-8. The company recently confirmed it’s developing an even more powerful version called the “Megazilla.” We’re extremely interested.
In a video released last month by the Performance Racing Industry YouTube channel. Mike Goodwin of Ford Performance confirmed the existence of an even angrier V-8. “We’re also working on a super-secret project known as the Megazilla, he said. “It’s going to increase the power output from the 430 horsepower that comes from the production crate engine.”
While that’s not very much information to go on, it’s enough to get us excited. We’ve already seen how a few basic mods can push the Godzilla engine to 600 horsepower. So we’re curious what Ford Performance will do to squeeze out the ponies. Whether the engine will remain naturally aspirated or received some kind of forced induction has yet to be seen.
This isn’t the only big-power crate motor we’re expecting from Ford. Last month, we heard whispers the company could introduce the Shelby GT500’s 5.2-liter supercharged “Predator” V-8 as a crate motor as well.
