Global Support To India Pours To Battle Covid-19

Initially, United States President Joe Biden extended America’s full support to India which is battling a bad Covid 19 second wave on his call with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“Like India sent help to the United States as our hospitals were strained early in the pandemic, we are determined to help India in its time of need,” President Joe Biden tweeted on Sunday.

US will be immediately sending Medics, rapid diagnostic test kits, ventilators, and P P E to India.


Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, assured India of the UAE’s support on Sunday.

U A E provided six empty cryogenic containers from Dubai on Monday. The containers will be used to store liquid oxygen and will go on to be used to help patients with Covid-19 to breathe.

Also, many iconic buildings and the Burj Khalifa, in the U A E lit up with the tricolour to show solidarity with India as it  struggles  with a growing  C O V I D – 19  crisis.


Saudi Arabia sent 80 metric tons of oxygen to India. In addition, it  sent the supplies of oxygen in cooperation with the Indian company Adani Group and British company Linde.


 U K Prime Minister Boris Johnson tweeted –

“We stand side by side with India in the shared fight against COVID 19. Vital medical equipment is on its way from the U K to India to help stop the tragic loss of life from the virus and we’ll continue to work closely with the Indian government during this difficult time.”

U K will provide India with 600 pieces of vital medical equipments including  oxygen making machines and ventilators .

The first shipment of Covid medical supplies from the United Kingdom reached India today. In addition, reports suggest that about 100 ventilators & 95 oxygen concentrators were part of the shipment.


“To the people of India I want to express my sympathy on the terrible suffering that Covid 19 has again brought over your communities”. German Chancellor Merkel said in a message shared on Twitter by her spokesman Steffen Seibert.

“The fight against the pandemic is our common fight. Germany stands in solidarity with India and is urgently preparing a mission of support.”

Merkel said her government is preparing emergency aid for India. There are no immediate details about the kind of aid Germany would offer.


“Alarmed by the epidemiological situation in India. We are ready to support”. European Commission chief Ursula von der Leyen said on Twitter.

E U commissioner for humanitarian aid Janez Lenarcic also says oxygen and medicine contributions are being coordinated by member states.


Pakistan too responded timely. P M Imran Khan tweeted –

“I want to express our solidarity with the people of India as they battle a dangerous wave of C O V I D 19. Our prayers for a speedy recovery go to all those suffering from the pandemic in our neighbor hood and the world. We must fight this global challenge facing humanity together.” So let us unite.

They offered ventilators as well as Bi level positive airway pressure machine (B i -P A P), digital X ray machines, P P E s and other related items. Furthermore, the country’s Edhi foundation offer to send a fleet of 50 ambulances to India.


Singapore sent Bi P A P machines, 250 oxygen concentrators and other medical supplies. Also, the Indian Air Force air lifted four cryogenic oxygen tanks from Singapore.


Russia will provide equipment such as Oxygen makers, Oxygen tanks and medicines needed.


Not only above countries, Canada’s Minister of Public Services and Purchase Anita Anand also said -“We will stand ready with P P E and ventilators. And any items that might be useful for the people of India.”
