The Covid 19 pandemic has spoiled the usual glow of Oscar stage. In recent months, awards show organizers adapted to the realities of the pandemic. Still, the organizers set the stage for the announcement of the 93rd Academy Awards. The award ceremony will be held on Monday, April 26 from 5:30 am Indian time .
Priyanka Chopra and her husband Nick Jonas announced the nomination list on March 15. No Indian presence is there in the final list.
Indian Participation Eliminated:
India’s official submission for the 93rd Academy awards in the Best International Feature Film language category was Malayalam director, Lijo Jose Pellissery’s ‘Jallikattu’. But rejected from the last list. The Tamil film Surai Pottru also screened before the jury but not considered.
The White Tiger, based on the novel of the same name by Arvind Adiga, will compete in the Adapted Screen play category. It is directed by Ramin Bahrani, the film stars Priyanka Chopra and Adarsh Gaurav in the lead roles. The screen play is by Bahrani himself.
The Father, Judas and the Black Messiah, Monk, Minari, Nomadland, Promising Young Woman, Sound of Metal, The Trial of the Chicago are the other nominees.
Riyaz Ahmed, Chadwick Bosman, Anthony Hopkins, Gary Oldman and Steven Yeun are among nominees for the Best Actors. Andra Day, Vanessa Kirby, Francis M c Dormand and Carey Mulligan are among the nominees for Best Actress.
The Venue:
The ceremony will take place at Los Angeles Union Station in addition to the Dolby Theatre. The show’s organizers arranged all Safety Protocols in place. The audience capacity is a total of 170 people.
There shall be 15 presenters for Oscar 2021. Interestingly, they are last year’s acting winners — Laura Dern and Joaquin Phoenix, Brad Pitt and Renée Zellweger. Also Angela Bassett, Halle Berry, Bong Joon Ho, Don Cheadle, Bryan Cranston, Harrison Ford, Regina King, Marlee Matlin, Rita Moreno along with Reese Witherspoon and Zendaya.
