Latest scientific studies in Israel suggests that there was no change found in sperm of men who got Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine. This Israeli study represents one of the first data on male fertility. Research findings are numerous about the safety of vaccines for women who are pregnant or trying to be.

According to a small pre-print study in Israel reveals that the Pfizer-BioNTech’s COVID-19 vaccine does not damage sperm.

The researchers observed the sperm samples from 43 men. They had received their second dose of the vaccine around one month prior. The team at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem could not find any abnormalities in the concentration. Volume and also the motility of the men’s sperm was intact.

Though the results need reviews by scholars, these new research findings affirms young men can get vaccination. It is opposite to earlier research result that said coronavirus infection could impact male fertility.

An article published on the website medRxiv, where researchers post pre-print studies,

suggests the couples desiring to conceive should also vaccinate, as vaccination does not affect sperm.”

Earlier clinical trials of the vaccines knowingly did not include pregnant people, there is now enough data to show that the vaccines are safe for women trying to conceive, people who are currently pregnant, and those who are breastfeeding.

A spokesperson for Pfizer, Jerica Pitts pointed out in a press meet – “The statement COVID-19 vaccines will cause infertility is incorrect. Probably because of a shared sequence of amino acid in the spike protein of SARS-CoV-2 along with a placental protein. However the however, is too short to reasonably give rise to autoimmunity.”
