Boston Dynamics which was acquired by Hyundai Motor Group earlier, released a new video “Spot’s On It” on June 29. It shows ‘Spot’ robots dancing to K-Pop band BTS song “Ioniq: I’m On It”.
In the video, 7 four-legged yellow robots are seen sitting in silence and are lined up so closely. They look similar to the deck chairs stacked on top of one another. Later, when the music starts, their arms shoot out into a series of patterns.
Finally, these seven Spots robots separate, synchronizing their steps and start dancing. The steps are so perfectly timed. And also, the motions so smooth and balanced. One might think the robots are actually listening and responding to the music. Not at all, they’re listening to their synchronized inner clocks.
The team says, behind the curtain lies hours of choreography and their engineering effort which all together resulted in a 77 – second performance.
