India legend Sachin Tendulkar on Sunday gave medical equipment to a charitable hospital in Assam’s Karimganj district to extend his support to under-privileged families.
Sachin Tendulkar, who is also the ‘Goodwill Ambassador of Unicef‘ had given the needed items to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) to Makunda hospital.
Makunda hospital is located at the Patharkandi area in Karimganj district along the Assam-Mizoram border. And this move will help more than 2000 children coming from poor families.
Dr. Vijay Anand Ismael, is a Paediatric Surgeon of Makunda hospital. To clarify, he said Sachin Tendulkar’s foundation has donated the medical equipment to the hospital.
“We are very thankful to Sachin Tendulkar’s foundation. We receive a lot of very rare cases. As a matter, the pediatric surgical facilities in the North East are very limited.
“In the past 20 years, we are the main surgical facility for children of entire Northeast India. Not only Assam, but patients from all the NE states are coming here. We are thankful to Sachin Tendulkar’s foundation that they have decided to give us a very costly machine and other medical items,” Dr. Vijay Anand Ismael said.
Dr. Vijay further said that this will also help the hospital to provide better service at a low cost to the poor people of the region.
Sachin Tendulkar’s foundation has also helped in providing nutrition and education to tribal communities in Madhya Pradesh. Similarly, this initiative will also help lot of poor communities in North East.
