With fuel prices in the UAE falling, Dubai authorities have announced a reduction in taxi fares that will take effect immediately. In Dubai, the minimum fare has been reduced by 22 fils.
This reduces the cost of a 20-kilometer taxi ride by Dh4.40, providing relief to passengers given the increased demand for the service.
On December 30, the UAE significantly reduced retail fuel prices for the month of January 2023.
The first taxi fare reduction took effect in October last year.
Previously, in September 2022, Sharjah authorities announced a Dh1 reduction in the minimum fare, while Ajman authorities announced a 6% reduction in the tariff.
Fuel prices in the UAE have fallen to a six-month low, prompting these announcements.
Prices reached their highest level since they were liberalised in 2015, allowing them to move in sync with the market, in early 2022.
