She is a 10th standard student in a government higher secondary school in Kozhikode, the northern district in Kerala.
The Pinarayi Vijayan government when it came to power in 2016. One of the major flagship projects announced by him was ‘Rejuvenation of General Education’ then. The mission was a desperate attempt to revive public schools that were steadily losing relevance for want of students. The new wave and the move got the result. The number of students who have taken admission in government and Government-aided schools has gone up. The increase was by 5 lakh in the last four years
The seeds of ICT enabled education sprouted in the state in the year 2000.
The Left democratic government of that time set up a task force to outline the way ahead. It gained strength when the united democratic front government led by AK Antony carried the vision forward. The Government introduced IT education in schools in 2002. Since then, successive governments, despite political differences, showed interest in IT and ICT enabled education in school. And also, the IT@School project set up to carry forward the mission. It later metamorphosed into Kerala Infrastructure and Technology for Education
During the initial years, the focus was on teaching IT as a subject in school classes. It later matured into an ICT enabled teaching. “Perhaps, Kerala is the only state that has developed scientific academic content. It is not geeks, But trained teachers who are doing the job.
