Today, we find WhatsApp as the top-most messaging app in the world. It’s free and has the simplest user interface, making it simple enough for a novice to pick up in no time.
However, one essential feature was missing: the ability to allow users to transfer their chat history from one platform to another, such as from iOS to Android and vice- versa.
The company has announced the addition of a feature that allows users to share their chat history between platforms.
Initially, the cross-platform WhatsApp chat transfer capability is only available for the Samsung folding screen phones.
New feature allows transfer of Chat history and images
The company said, WhatsApp will add the new feature such that you will be able to move your full chat history – voice notes, photographs, and conversations in a secure way while switching mobile operating systems.
In the following weeks, WhatsApp will roll out the cross-platform message history transfer in phases to both Android and iOS-based iPhones.
This feature will intially be available for the Samsung folding screen phones, released on August 11th. If you currently possess an iPhone, you can transfer your chat history to Samsung’s newest phones.
For the chat history transfer to work, WhatsApp says that the smartphones must be running Android 10 or higher. However, this feature will be available in a few weeks.
